shop update

new handmade clothing for women and kids is available in the shop!  also some really cute tees and (hand dyed) onesies.

the vintage fabric that this first tee is made out of is amazing, no?  too bad i only had enough for one shirt.  (i am so tempted to keep it).

more for kids

these will also be part of the shop update.  just a few styles made from new fabrics...  i had planned on making these in multiple sizes, but then i got sidetracked by...  hmmm...  what project was it?

new pjs

a quick sewing project...

not my favorite color, but soft.  good for sleep.  ah, sleep...

holiday market

i had a great time yesterday at our local holiday market (despite having slept only 3 hours the night before).  so many people came!  so many friendly faces!  unfortunately, i didn't take lots of photos like i'd planned to.  oh, well.  here a couple from where i was sitting.

paisley pleat

finished sewing this top last week.  started with the same pattern as my last one...  this time with a pleat and a round neck.  this bright (thrifted) fabric seemed perfect for fall, but there was only enough for short sleeves.  that's okay, it's nice layered, too.

wednesday afternoon

yesterday we took advantage of a lull in the rains to go for a puddle-splashing photo-walk.  i'm trying out my new thrifted coat (london fog,  $5!).  also, some crazy red (italian leather) vintage shoes ($2.50!).

i like david's outfit.  the different textures of fabrics in nice greens and browns.  his shirt and jacket were thrifted.  these cords.

jacket inspiration

this cool weather has me thinking about coats.  i scored an awesome swingy sailor-type one at the thrift store the other day for $5.  i'll show you soon.  here are a couple from zara that i really like.

pending

i draped these blouses over the closet door after doing laundry a few days ago.  should have hung them up by now, but they look so pretty there.  maybe now that i took a picture i can follow through.  the peachy one and the white one with a bit of lace were thrifted the other two i made (this one and one like this).

shop update: tots tanks

squeezing in a few more summer-y tanks before switching to fall-ish designs and color-combos.  the first one has a pretty vintage flower applique on it that i've been saving forever.  the aqua polka dotted fabric is mega-soft.  click on an image to link to the shop.

dots and stripes: shop update

three new tanks for tots in the shop today!  this first one is my favorite.  i've been saving the vintage anchor applique for a while.  it just seemed right on the navy/white stripes.

you may have noticed the new tags on these.  i was using my woven foliage tags (which are normally reserved for garments made from new fabrics) because my handmade more less tags just seemed to big for wee kids clothes.  anyhow, i finally decided to just screen print some smaller tags myself.  i'm really happy with how they turned out!

so many kittens!

it's been cat-face overload over here!  i'm really enjoying getting back into screen printing, and want to do more.  more cute animal heads and other designs.  it's also been super-fun seeing my cat drawing big and on handmade tops as well as american apparel tees.

these are all available in the shop right now.  all are either one-of-a-kind or very limited.

old shirt, old shoes...

just a couple recent second-hand favorites.  this shirt makes a great over-sized spring jacket.  horses!

i've been wanting a pair of brown oxfords for a while now, but have resisted buying a new pair.  saw these at a low price in an interesting etsy shop.  had to have them!

tiny drips

this top is a sleeveless version of one i sold about a year ago.  the green fabric has sweet little pink, green, and pale peach droplets on it. it came to me in the form of a sort of shapeless sundress, which i happily chopped up and stitched into something more fun.

spring sewing

hi!

i have been sewing up a (small) storm lately.  making more garments with salvaged/second-hand/reclaimed fabrics.  it's easier to find uses for smaller amounts of material when making summer things...  hello, sleeveless.  in a minute i'm going to go work on a pattern that will hopefully only take one yard of fabric.

here are a few knit tops that will be part of this more less update (not sure when yet).  and glimpses of some of the other garments.
