vintage fabric galore

here are some photos of the load (4 boxes!) of vintage fabric i bought at the estate sale i mentioned last week.  it was a challenge to restrain my giddiness as i dug though box after box of cloth, pulling out beautiful pieces, adding them to my take-home pile.   i'm still a bit overwhelmed by this haul...  so much design inspiration and so many beautiful prints, i don't know which to use or what to make first!

cars + flowers + foxes

here are a couple of my fabric designs which arrived in the mail the other day.  i'm pretty excited to sew with these!  i had both designs printed on knits.  exploded flower garden on modern jersey and little retro cars on organic cotton.   these fabrics are wonderfully soft and i'm always amazed at how crisp and bright the colors are. i think the floral will be a top for me and the cars will be something smaller for a cute kid i know.

also, a couple shots of my "crazy like a fox" design printed on lovely lightweight cotton voile.   i actually just finished making something out of this fabric, which i'll share very soon!

vintage patterns

the other day i found a treasure trove of lovely vintage patterns at a local thrift shop (5¢ each!).  most of these are not my size, but they are so fun to look at.  i find the illustrations, colors, patterns and little details so inspiring for drawing, designing and sewing.

this fabric + renegade

super-excited to say that we'll be setting up shop at the renegade craft fair in chicago this december 7th & 8th.  lots to do and make!

i've been ordering supplies and such, some of which are more exciting than others... these fabrics, for example: a handful of my designs washed and ready to be made into zippered pouches and other things.  the gritty kitties make me giddy.

beetle time

look what arrived in the mail yesterday!  can't wait to wash this stuff up and get sewing.  i've discovered the perfect fitting t-shirt pattern which i'll be using.  more on that soon.

i had spoonflower print these bugs on organic cotton knit, which gives the design a creamy, off-white background.  (all of the the other fabric options would make for a pure white background).  The fabric is super-soft and feels very high-quality.  i'm so excited to make a garment with fabric of my own design!

not from yesterday, but last week and before...  i'm not sure what to do with the bolt of patterned fabric, but the chambray might become a few tops like this, among other things.

last week i scored a whole heap of fantastic fabrics...  and an awesome cardinal bag to carry it all home in.  so excited about those little black bows!
