Tees for Two

Made last spring, this is probably my favorite sewing project of the year (so far)...  Matching tees for my niece and me.  Seems like a good time to post (and wear!) these, considering all the little fuzzballs scurrying around underfoot, stuffing their cheeks with acorns and such.

Fabric:  My Rodents/Gnawers design on Spoonflower's modern jersey.

Patterns:
My tee:  Lark by Grainline Studio
Esme's Tee:  Simplicity 1566
Leggings:  Brindille and Twig

Charley Harper Twins

Some dear friends of mine commissioned a couple of baby outfits for their friends who just had twins (a boy and a girl!).  Since we're all Charley Harper fans, this was the perfect chance to use some amazing organic cotton fabric featuring his illustrations. These lady bug and bird designs are perfect for baby clothes, but I'm kinda tempted to make something for myself out of one of these fabrics, too.  (I used top and legging patterns from Brindille & Twig).

Doodletown Leggings + Kitty Tank Custom Order

Had to take a couple photos of this cute outfit before sending it off.  The Doodletown Leggings were a custom order for 4-year-old Margo and she's also getting the last of our Kitty Tanks.  Lucky girl!

Summer Collection Glimpse

Instead of adding random little garments to the shop here and there, I thought I'd try focusing on a mini-collection of coordinating pieces. The combination of new and vintage fabrics I'm working with is really bright and cheerful.  The polka dots and stripes give things an almost circus-y feel.  Fun!  I hope to release this little collection around the end of May.  Stay tuned for more updates!

P.S.  Check out the kids section of our shop for some crazy sale prices on handmade clothing!

outfit for a new niece

it's taken me a little while to post this, but here's a cute clothing kit i sent along when our niece esmé was born (in late october!).  the cardigan and knit hat i'm quite proud of.  for these i used patterns from a vintage knitting book (1968) and this alpaca yarn.  i love the little raglan cables and turned up cuffs.  i was a little nervous to knit the hat because the bumpy texture required dropping/unravelling stitches, but it was actually pretty easy once i got the hang of it.  i definitely gained some knitting confidence making these!

i used this pattern for the long sleeve tee.  the poofy pants are a combo of this simplicity pattern (too complicated) and the bloomer pattern in made by hand (not complicated enough).  i love the way these pretty fabrics look together.

this vintage knitting book has some pretty crazy stuffed animals propping up the sweaters.  who decided this bunny needed makeup?

auggie's outfit

here's a cute outfit i made for my cousin's little guy.  i used simplicity 1566 for all three pieces.  i added pockets to the trousers so they're not too plain. for the long-sleeve tee i used my little retro cars fabric (printed on organic cotton knit). i like this shirt pattern, the neck looks neat with hidden sewn-in snaps and top-stitching.  the zip-up hoodie is my favorite...  the fabric is super-soft, the striped binding gives the inside a special surprise and i just happened to have the perfect matching zipper!

cats + clouds baby outfit

it's really fun to sew up little gifts like this, especially when i get to use my own fabric designs.  for this cute outfit i paired back to back cats with popcorn clouds, both printed on Spoonflowers organic cotton knit.  this fabric is so soft and thick, perfect for baby clothes.  i used Brindille & Twig patterns for both the top and leggings.  can't wait to see a new niece or nephew decked out in these!

gift bags

i like to keep some nice pieces of colorful fabrics on hand when we're screen printing t-shirts.  that way i can have cute cats ready to sew into bags, pouches, etc.

a few things

we had a great time at dose market last weekend. a nice bonus was chatting with our neighboring sellers including debbie carlos and grow studio.  and afterwards we got to hang out with betsy and aaron, which is aways super-fun.

a few things came back with us that i wanted to pop in the shop right away.  only one christmas tunic and kids kitty tote left.

(details about a special sale here).
